Hey, I’m Melanie Killens!
I’m a habits + accountability coach based in Ontario, Canada.
I’ve lived a life that’s taken me across the globe and back again, teaching overseas, starting over, and over, chasing stability, and losing it all more than once.
My story isn’t tidy or cookie cutter. It’s messy, unpredictable, and full of wrong (or right) turns.
I’ve battled anxiety, faced cancer, survived trauma and heartbreak, even mended family relationships I thought were gone forever.
And through every detour, I’ve had to learn how to rebuild, how to rise again, and how to create a life that finally feels like mine.
One of the biggest turning points came in 2019, when everything seemingly collapsed again.
I was stuck, with no idea where to go next. Out of desperation, I invested $10K in a year long life coaching program.
That decision terrified me, but it cracked everything open. For the first time, I had someone in my corner, showing me that with support and accountability, I could design a life I actually wanted.
That choice became the spark that set everything else in motion, fitness, wellness, and coaching.
My honest & real story, continued…
From there, I layered growth on growth. I worked with therapists, coaches, and mentors. I invested in my own healing.
I started running, built running groups, opened coaching spaces, and began piecing together a vision for something bigger.
Even when I veered off track, like when I abandoned coaching for the ‘safe’ path of full time teaching, I kept circling back. Coaching was where I felt purposeful, alive, and connected.
Every time life knocked me down, I found the right support to rise again.
The hardest obstacle hasn’t been cancer, heartbreak, or even trauma. It’s been believing I had to do it all alone. For years, I thought grit and willpower were enough. But burnout and self doubt proved me wrong. What saved me, over and over, was learning to lean on support: that first life coach, therapists, mentors, fitness communities. That’s where transformation happens.
At 45, my life definitely does not look like the cookie cutter version we’ve been told to chase, marriage, kids, a 9 to 5, security over happiness..
Not me. And honestly? I’m grateful it doesn’t. Because we get to choose our own path.
What used to feel like my worst nightmare, living in a small town, single, with my mom, and without a secure (what society deems is secure) future, is now something I’m deeply grateful for.
I get to coach clients in mindset and movement. I train at the local gym. I teach part time in a school community I love. I spend evenings with family, friends, or clients. And I keep peeling back new layers, learning more, and growing deeper.
Most importantly, I’m building @movewellwithmelanie around the exact thing that saved me: combining mindset and movement to create lasting change. Not quick fixes.
Not cookie cutter programs. Real systems, accountability, and stacked wins that turn the impossible into automatic.
I know what it’s like to start over for the tenth time. To wonder if this time will actually be different.
And I also know what it feels like when it finally is.
That’s why I do this work, because if I can build freedom and consistency out of a life that’s been messy, winding, and full of detours, I know you can too.
